Bag with a flap

I made this for our daughter, who wanted a big bag. I made with thick thread, so it can take weight. I made small squares, joined them. At first my idea was to join them differently, then changed my plan. Totally 9 squares,  3 in each row. I have stitched a red cloth inside, as there are small holes in the square pattern. As, I'm not sure how to stitch a zip, my friend who did for my earlier bags, is sadly no more, I preferred to put a flap and buttons for the bag.

For the side and handle, I made it long, then joined with crochet, as I didn't want to join with thread. Then just to add colour made single crochet on the handle.

from this row on-wards, dec, 1 dc in each group , and increase one ch 3 loop in the next round, but in Rd 11, it will be ch 4 instead of ch 3 and in Rd 12, it will be ch 5 loop till you get just 1 dc.

to be honest, wasn't sure how it will come out, till I finished it. it is roughly 10", made with anchor 100 gm cotton thread. In case, anyone has any doubt, feel free to contact, as it is the 1st time that I tried to remember how I made a pattern, as normally I just keep doing what comes to my mind and forget to note it down and people have asked me for the pattern.  Planning to make another one, so I can be sure of the last line !

the credit for this should go to Sophie, from whose site, I made this, she has taken great pains to explain in minute detail about each line with clear photos how to make it. I've not made the full blanket like what she had done, I made roughly 3/4th of it only.

Afghan Square Crochet Bag

This is an 8" square afghan. I made 2, for front & back, made a 2" handle to go all around the bottom & the sides. As I'm bad in stitching, asked a tailor to put the zip, pockets. Made a small design on the top.

crochet squares

This was another design given by my daughter-in-law to do like a 'Rangoli' one she had drawn. I made each square in a different design, joined them, then made the border like in a ' Rangoli'.

Crochet Square inside a Square

I was given a challenge by my daughter-in-law to make a square inside another like a 'Rangoli" design. She saw the tiny holes that come in Granny Square & she wanted me to make like that in the bigger square. I felt happy that I managed to do it & also make her feel happy !
