Afghan square flower shoulder bag

My daughter said that she wants to big 12" big bag, to carry her books etc. I took trouble to make small squares, join them and then made the flap and the handle and joined them.

This bag came handy for me to carry a file, 2 cells, small purse, water bottle etc.

Simple small purse

I'm just crazy about bags/ purses, made with double crochet. The bottom was a circle, from that I increased and made this years ago, had a good tailor in Delhi, who stitched lining with a pocket in it, It is big enough for cellphones, small purse and a small water bottle, which I always carry with me.

I made small flowers, they're my own design, after making MR, then I do 6/8 sc, keep increasing till I get the desired size, then make sc in the back-loop only, so you can get the fold to turn.

How to do a rectangle base for a bag

Normally when we crochet a long chain of the desired length, then do 2 sc in 2nd ch, sc till the last, in last ch 3 sc, turning, we do sc in each till the end and join.

What we get is an oval shape. I wanted a rectangle for the base of my bag

So, in the 2nd row onwards, in each corner st, made 2 sc and continued like that till the desired length I wanted. I got a nice rectangle.

I've not yet finished this bag, just wanted to show you all that you can make a rectangle in this way.

Good luck and good health to all. Praying for the pandemic to go away soon.

Bag with a flap

I made this for our daughter, who wanted a big bag. I made with thick thread, so it can take weight. I made small squares, joined them. At first my idea was to join them differently, then changed my plan. Totally 9 squares,  3 in each row. I have stitched a red cloth inside, as there are small holes in the square pattern. As, I'm not sure how to stitch a zip, my friend who did for my earlier bags, is sadly no more, I preferred to put a flap and buttons for the bag.

For the side and handle, I made it long, then joined with crochet, as I didn't want to join with thread. Then just to add colour made single crochet on the handle.

Penguin Bag

The idea I got from a site, but then as I made with almost double the no. of stitches, when it came to doing the penguin face shaping, had to think for myself. I made the feet bigger than what was mentioned in the site. I made a long handle using black and white wool, and joined the handle all around. The penguin's nose acts like a button !

Cellphone bag

I made this bag for my granddaughter, as she loves green colour and wanted in this colour. It is my own pattern.

Shark Cellphone bag

I made this shark cellphone bag for my grand-daughter, who loves animals and wanted this one when I showed her a similar pattern. But, I had to change a lot from the pattern, as felt the stitches were more as for the material I used, so, changed as what I felt was needed, so, for the teeth and other parts too, reduced and in the pattern for the shark teeth were not stitched, felt that they may easily tear as there were gaps in the final round of teeth, so I stitched it securely. The handle, I made with shaded cotton thread, felt so happy when granddaughter after returning from her classes said it looked so good. I can't ask for anything more, as the user is happy using it.

LITTLE BAG KEYCHAIN

I made a chain having 13 , in 2nd chain from hook, made sc and sc around, 3 sc in last sc and sc on each st on the other side and 2 sc in the last st. join.

R2- made sc in the backloop of each st., increased 2 sc in the corner

R3- 10 or so, sc in the each st, around, then made the flap, made a small buttonhole leaving 2 st, with chain over them and sc in the next row and FO.

Made a loop with about 11 ch, 10 sc for 2 rows, stitched on top putting the keychain through it.

Actually made for backpack two loops, but decided against putting those loops, as I preferred the small bag, one can put some change or tablet in it too ! or can use it to put a note !

crochet bag

the basic design of the square is not mine, it is called crocodile afghan square, which I bought from Revelry. But after making 2 squares, I extended into a rectangle, then for the strap I made a long strip to join the sides and for the strap, attached by hand, got my friend to put the lining and zip, as I thought if I tried, I may spoil it ! this is made with wool. This , I hope I can keep for myself ! as many bags, I've gifted too. Our daughter loved this bag, when she came now and said she wants it, gave it to her, as I know that she will keep it safe and with love. As many bags, cell-phone bags, which I gifted to people who said they liked it, but they just seems to have dumped it somewhere, as I've never seen them using it, that really hurts.

TUNISIAN NEW CROSS STITCH CROCHET BAG

this is my own design.
Those who are interested in Tunisian crochet, here is the pattern

start with any no. of stitches
the 1st  row follow the simple Tunisian pattern, i.e., draw a loop from each stitch till the end, then draw up a loop, draw through 2 loops in the 1st stitch, then from 2nd to last stitch, draw up a loop, draw through 3 loops, ch 1 turn at the end of each row
in the 3rd row, draw a loop from the 3rd stitch, then cross over, draw a loop from the 2nd stitch, continue in the same way, drawing from 5th, then from 4th & so on, till the end
4th row, like the the 2nd row, draw through all loops till the end, ch 1 turn
repeat 3rd & 4th row till the length you desire
to finish, draw up a loop from 3rd stitch, then make single crochet, then draw through 2nd stitch a loop, make a sc, continue till the end, then to get a better finish, make 1/2 rows of single crochet.

ps- as normally Tunisian crochet as a tendency to curl, when you begin, so, after making the desired no. of stitches, I made one row of single crochet, then started the Tunisian crochet, so it didn't curl much.
If anyone has any doubt, please free to mail me.

After making back, I made the front side of the bag longer, so it will fold over little.
Then I made single crochet strip to join the front, back & bottom, then made the strap, by reducing the no. of stitches in the first few rows, as the sides are broad.
then I made the long strip for the pocket, attached from side to bottom & to the other side.
Then I made a small flower to put in the front.
To make the flower, made the magic loop, made 12 double crochet in it, then joined to the 1st st.
For the petals, in the 2nd row, made 3 dc, 3 ch, *sl st, in the next 2 stitches, then made 3 ch, 3 dc, 3 ch*, ended with sl st, then 3 ch to join to top of the dc.

Crochet hook bag

I got this idea from a site, but this is my own design, as I'ld not follow that properly ! Anyway, managed it with my idea, also made loops inside to store my hooks, but haven't finished sewing one side & want to put a button on top !
